The Elissa with lower top sails in Galveston Channel

This beautiful ship, built in 1877, calls Galveston home. From what I have been able to find out via message boards, she weathered Hurricane Ike with very minimal damage. Hooray!

What a magnificent ship! I love all the Galveston information on here and your vintage and more recent pictures. I just realized that you and Paper Cowgirl Dale are one in the same!!! We are soo excited and now the girls (Barbara, Judy and LaVerne) decided we were hasty in deciding to drive up Saturday a.m. because we'd miss Vendor's night! So I think we may tweek our plans and come up early and spend the night. So we'll probably see you Friday night. Can't wait - :)Nancy
PS Sarahs clothesline swap was the first swap I ever did, and she and I were partners in the 2nd one! She is a sweetheart and I'm definitely sending a craft care package to her.
