Cape Hatteras,NC

Does place matter so much to everyone? I'm not sure. I am deeply effected by my environment. I love for my home to peaceful, pretty, reflective of who I am, of my family and our shared journey.
I like north Texas. The wide open skies are truly inspiring. The flat land feels grand and vast. Our winters are fairly short and mild. I love the sunshine and even the heat. The schools are good. Crime is low.
But my heart's home will always be by the sea. I grew up visiting North Carolina's coast. The Atlantic is fierce and beautiful. I have been to many beaches and now prefer the Caribbean's gentle azure waters, but anywhere near the ocean works for me. As a child I would love that first whiff of sea air that you could smell, well before the water came into view... and then that first glimpse of the ocean that never failed to thrill. Every time, every single time, I have those experiences my heart is filled and know that I am "home".
Someday I will live near the coast. Which coast? I am not certain, but that is my dream, my plan...

I have many fond memories of Cape Hatteras...as a young single Mom I was blessed with a friend who owned a home in 'Frisco' just south of the lighthouse. She graciously allowed my sons and I to spend a week each summer for our vaction. Working three jobs and having little money made this offer of free lodging a blessing!

North Carolina is my all time favorite..we just returned from Topsail Beach, NC. I love it...one day for me as well!

Dale, you designed my lollishop banner and wanted to get a quote from you for cards, I guess business size, something I can place with my orders as I send them out, I would love my banner or part or it on front with my info just on the backside, no frills there. Please email me and let me know what you think...missmollycottageatyahoo.com...thanks,

I am very drawn to the water also. I live on lake ontario, which is one of the great lakes and is 700 miles around. This is where I get my beach fixes. Though not the ocean, it is still big and beautiful and sandy! and to be honest, I'm more comfortably swimming in it then in the ocean! but dont get me wrong, nothing beats the ocean!! I love it!
My dream, is to have a cottage on the lake! though really My house is like a little cottage, and I'm only down the street from the lake.. hmmm.. maybe this is as close as I'll get to that dream coming true!!
have a sweet weekend! coincidently, I'm off to the beach today!hugs

Oh I know exactly what you mean! If you visit my blog a few posts back I posted pics of my recent trip back to NC. We went to the outer banks and had an amazing time. I love the ferry ride over to Ocracoke:)

Such pretty beach pics. I've never been to NC, but love SC beaches. Still working on that lottery win for our beach houses.

I've lived in Switzerland for 36 years, no sea even near, and it's a dream come true for me to live in coastal USA. I hope to one day live in a milder climate in a home from which I can walk to the beach!

My heart skips a beat when I get near the ocean. I feel right at home there, as well. I have told my husband, Jack, that my dream is to live near the ocean and his is to be on a small farm. So who knows one day we may have a farmette within a half an hour of the ocean and both be happy. The sounds, the smells, so much to delight the senses. I am a huge fan of your digital artwork. There are so many layers and vibrant colors. SO full of life and rich looking. Beautiful.
